About · Full Spectrum Alchemist
Most people who can hold deep, transformative space cannot build systems. Most who can build systems cannot hold space. I've spent a life refusing to choose, and learned to work fluently across the whole range. I've come to call it full-spectrum alchemy.
The Full Spectrum Alchemist
Alchemy was never really about gold. It was about working with the whole of a thing (matter and spirit, the fixed and the volatile) and having the discipline to refuse to throw any of it away. That's the work, at every scale.
In practice it means I move between rooms most people keep separate: the term sheet and the theatre, the capital stack and the living plant, the entitlement hearing and the shadow-puppet screen. The range isn't a résumé quirk. It's the instrument.
The Structure
For fifteen-plus years I built at executive scale. As CEO of Deep Green Development Group, I wove sustainability, art, architecture, and master planning into a single practice and worked to make net-zero the standard rather than the exception. Before that, VP of Real Estate Development at Star Harbor, and CEO and COO of the John Madden Company, running commercial development, asset management, and ultimately the divestiture of an entire portfolio.
An MBA in Ethics and Legal Studies and a Colorado broker's license sit underneath all of it. I know how capital, entitlements, and large organizations actually behave. And, more useful, exactly where they fail the people and places inside them.
Lately, a new instrument has joined the kit: applied artificial intelligence. I’ve trained in it deeply and build with it (agents, automation, the systems that move information and decisions), and I wield it the way I wield every tool. In service of the work, never in place of the human at the center of it.
The Soul
The other hand never stopped making. I hold a BFA in theatre. I spent years teaching gifted children at the Logan School, classrooms at Gust Elementary, where the whole job is patient, exact translation. A Durfee Foundation grant sent me to China to study shadow-puppet theatre under a master puppeteer. I served on the board of the Museum of Outdoor Arts.
And lately, the plant. I'm an herbalist and the founder of Apothecary N’ Bliss, growing and preparing botanical medicine from the ground up. One improbable season, I helped install the largest living wall in North America on the face of an amphitheatre. A building given a living skin.
A living wall is the whole thesis in a single image: a built structure, given a soul and a pulse, and kept alive on purpose.
That is full-spectrum alchemy, and it's also precisely what a real transition asks for: someone who can read your numbers and your nervous system in the same breath, hold the art and the architecture at once, and design the next chapter so nothing true gets thrown away. Soul and structure, at the same table.
Why This Work
I do this because I've stood at my own threshold and rebuilt from the studs. Dissolved a life that no longer fit and recombined it, deliberately, into one that does. I won't ask you to do anything I haven't done myself.
That's also the work of a book I'm writing, Signal, the longer version of how a life gets read clearly enough to be remade.
